Authentic Nature
Atmospheric birch forest 3, Finnland
2022
Artwork text and archival details
Adapted from the artist’s archive.
Golden light filters through the canopy of a birch forest, touching the slender trunks and the green undergrowth. The repeated vertical forms create an almost architectural rhythm, while differences in spacing and illumination keep that rhythm alive.
White bark and darker vegetation establish the depth of the scene. The eye follows the light between the trees, encountering a landscape whose apparent order remains the result of growth. The photograph offers time to consider how structure and irregularity can coexist within the same view.
