Romance of Elements
Behind the lines, Neuseeland
2006
A closer look at the work
Several golden wavering lines cross a dark coastal foreground. Their spacing and amplitude vary while they move together from left to right. Water, low shore and isolated rock silhouettes remain behind. Faint landscape and bright traces occupy distinct visual layers.
The title directs attention behind the lines, where quieter surroundings gradually become legible. Movement does not fully conceal space but governs its perception. Each trace preserves a route while landscape provides a place. Orientation through traversed movement meets orientation through lasting forms without fully coinciding.
