Reflections of India
Birkenwald und Berg, Indien
2018
A closer look at the work
Slender pale birches stand before a darker uneven slope. Their mostly bare branches form a fine network against pale sky, with warm patches of distant vegetation between them. Ground remains dark and mossy.
Near lines and a larger distant mass create two orders. The eye reaches a surface through a mesh of trunks, gaining depth without an open view. Individual birches also become a permeable curtain before the background.
