Water
Burned Forest 3
2018
A closer look at the work
Numerous thin, almost bare trunks rise through a grey forest. Long dark ground lines intensify recession. Some trunks lean away from the prevailing vertical; a lighter area lies far behind. Limited colour turns trunk, shadow and interval into a dense rhythmic structure.
The view appears almost drawn yet remains tied to concrete space. Each line stands at a distance from others on visible ground. The eye alternates between surface density and seeking passage. In the title's context, this can be read as remaining structure. Neither active event nor certain future appears, only the persistent spatial presence of separate verticals.
