Reflections of India
Cup of Jaipur, Indien
2011
A closer look at the work
A low parapet with rounded battlements crosses the bottom of the vertical frame. Beyond dark slopes, a densely illuminated city extends beneath an almost empty sky. Nearby stones appear substantial beside the distant points of light.
The parapet makes the viewing position part of the cityscape. Unseen space separates reachable stone from distant buildings. Overview remains tied to a boundary: an extensive urban field is perceived from one particular edge.
