Deeper Understanding
2008
Artwork text and archival details
Adapted from the artist’s archive.
The French coast opens into a broad, quiet expanse in Deeper Understanding. The relationship between distance and apparent permanence gives the landscape a contemplative presence.
The title introduces a connection between outward looking and inward reflection. The coast can be read as an image of the mind’s depth, but the photograph leaves that interpretation open. Clarity appears here as something to approach through attention, rather than something the image can promise.
