A closer look at the work
A broad pale ice wall crosses the picture beneath an irregular edge. A smaller blue group sits before it on the left with its own reflection. Fine vertical and oblique grooves articulate the mass. Muted grey-brown sky and water let it dominate.
Mass meets almost drawn surface detail. Reflection extends the body downward, separated by a narrow dark slit. Looking alternates between resemblance and division. The smaller group prevents complete symmetry, retaining the scene as relations among distinct bodies rather than a closed abstract pattern.
