A closer look at the work
Pale blue ice forms lie in almost smooth water. Angular peaks and softer bulges are reflected below, creating an approximately symmetrical figure. A dark shore and heavy grey sky frame subtle distinctions between white, turquoise and earthy grey.
Reflection doubles the forms without doubling their weight. Solid volume above becomes a delicate surface below. The photograph brings apparent stability into contact with change: even the ice belongs to an environment whose surfaces can alter their state.
