A closer look at the work
A tree with fine branches and pale buds or blossoms stands within a large crowd on rising terraces. Many people appear blurred and overlapping, with nearby backs filling the foreground. The comparatively clear tree connects different parts of the gathering.
Attention is shared between a collective event and a natural detail. The crowd's focus remains outside the visible centre, occupied instead by the tree. Varying sharpness presents public togetherness without making every individual separately identifiable.
