The Infrared Journey
Forest and Light II
2007
A closer look at the work
Dark trunks stand in pale grassy woodland. The downward view cuts off their crowns. Long shadows cross the foreground, framed by near trunks on either side and increasingly dense verticals behind.
Attention shifts to the relationship between trunk and ground. Shadows extend trees in another direction, producing a second set of lines. The forest becomes a spatial drawing made from dark bodies, bright intervals and directed shadows.
