A closer look at the work
A dark mountain mass rises above similarly toned water. Pale snow traces upper grooves. Golden haze spreads between slope and lake beneath heavy pink-grey clouds. Light enters from the left, progressively paling distant rises.
Depth is conveyed through graduated visibility rather than sharp outlines. The dark mass has weight; paler forms seem to dissolve into air. A golden band joins water and slope while making their boundary uncertain. Fixed relief and changing light compose a landscape whose precise visible transitions are themselves impermanent.
