A closer look at the work

A monumental Hanuman figure rises above a street at night. Its head and strongly coloured arms emerge from darkness, with a bright circle of light above the forehead. White and red traces cross the lower frame. Buildings and vegetation conceal parts of the figure and connect its large scale to the tighter surroundings.

This Delhi photograph brings together different forms of public presence. The statue stands as a lasting, visible figure while traffic appears as bands of light. Their difference exists within one present. The image reveals a spatial overlap of signs, structures and passing movement, rather than separate religious and transport landscapes.
