Authentic Nature
Hay Rolls, Spanien
2009
A closer look at the work
Round hay bales occupy a harvested field. A large bale at the front right shows a dark circular end; smaller ones lead towards a tree line beneath deep blue sky. Fine ground lines retain traces of cultivation.
Agricultural work becomes visible through remaining forms. The bales resemble simple geometric bodies but stay materially connected to the field. Sculptural order meets uneven ground, joining individual objects to a landscape whose use survives in traces.
