Iceland
Island spring, Island
2014
A closer look at the work
A blue stream winds through a largely white landscape. Its banks cut irregular shapes into the snow, while green patches emerge farther back. Low snowy mountains close the panorama beneath a grey blue sky. A few dark lines gain particular importance against the white expanse.
The title names spring, but the picture offers no clean division between seasons. Snow, water and exposed ground coexist. Transition becomes a spatial relationship: change appears through individual openings before it transforms the landscape as a whole.
