Jade bamboo, Japan
A closer look at the work
Several slender brown shoots stand among tall grey-green bamboo culms. Pointed ends and scaly surfaces distinguish them from smoother neighbours with regular nodes. Pale leaves cover the ground. Dense vertical lines continue beyond the top edge while the smaller forms remain fully visible.
Jade Bamboo presents differences of growth within shared space. Large and small culms are not simply similar lines at different scales; surfaces and contours differ distinctly. Proximity makes that variation tangible. A reading of belonging is possible without assigning human roles to plants: the visible coexistence of different stages and forms remains central.
