NY Roof

A closer look at the work
A flat roof with a low parapet lies among closely spaced buildings. Vents, aerials and small technical structures occupy its brown-grey surface. Behind it, façades with lit windows rise towards slender towers beneath violet sky. The nearby plane seems overlooked beside the surroundings' imposing height.
The city is approached from a surface usually hidden at street level. Traces of use and equipment distinguish it from bright façades. The roof is no empty interval but a specifically occupied functional plane. Public silhouette, supporting services and unobtrusive places of overview coexist, revealing the city's multiple faces.
