Urban · Visions of Time
NY Roof 3
2010
A closer look at the work
A wet roof leads between tall buildings towards a bright distant tower. Technical boxes on supports occupy the right; a low parapet recedes left. Puddles reflect window light. The rough brown foreground contrasts with regular illuminated façade grids.
A celebrated-looking skyline meets a less representative working surface. The roof is used and equipped without visible people. Puddles produce small counterparts of luminous height. The distant tower belongs to a specific neighbourhood of pipes, planes and structures. Urban grandeur remains tied to the material conditions of proximity.
