A closer look at the work
The hall narrows in a strongly controlled central perspective. Bright ceiling panels, columns and balustrades provide a legible framework, while the people below become a dense, multicoloured shimmer. A pale curved structure on the right interrupts their apparently even distribution. Above the crowd, the architecture remains sharply ordered.
The contrast involves more than stillness and movement. The building supplies fixed positions and directions; many bodies transform that order into an event that resists easy comprehension. Individual presences merge into a shared surface. The elevated view offers an overview while also revealing how little such an overview tells us about any one person's experience.
