A closer look at the work
A reclining body runs as a red form through the left half of the long picture. Bent arms and a hand appear bright green on the right. An almost black straight boundary lies between them. The figure emerges only where colour reaches its surface, with back and hand forming distant centres.
The extreme width joins these centres while allowing them to drift apart. The hand is small and articulated; the torso broadly curved. Colour differentiates them without physically separating the body. The eye bridges dark intervals, making bodily unity a perceptual achievement while the visible surface fragments into zones.
