Reflections of India
Pilgrims at govardhan 10, Indien
2014
A closer look at the work
Three people cross a warmly lit path against an almost black background. Ochre cloth falls in long folds around the figure on the left; farther right, a pale shirt and dark trousers stand out. The leading person approaches the edge while the last is cropped. Their different arm and leg positions divide the shared passage into separate phases.
Light connects the group across the ground without erasing their distances. Darkness offers little indication of their origin or destination, giving the passing moment its own coherence. Within the pilgrim title, a shared route becomes visible, but no shared inner state is established. Each body retains its own rhythm and outline.
