Reflections of India
Radharani temple, Indien
2011
A closer look at the work
The narrow panorama layers a townscape. Dark green fills the foreground, with pale houses spreading into haze beyond. The temple occupies a raised, wooded hill on the left. Yellowish sky absorbs the distant view, allowing buildings and horizon to merge increasingly towards the right.
The view of Barsana’s Radharani Temple avoids isolating the monument. Its elevated position is clear, but surrounding homes and trees remain part of the same setting. The elongated format lets attention move from the prominent structure across the wider settlement. Religious place and inhabited landscape appear spatially connected without assigning one shared meaning to everyone living there.
