A closer look at the work

The rusted beams extend from the near edge of the image towards a distant vanishing point over the water. Holes, broken edges and a hanging fragment of metal interrupt their strict line. Beneath them, slender supports recur at progressively closer intervals. The dark, rough metal contrasts with the pale expanses of sea and sky; on the right, human figures appear only as translucent outlines.

The perspective promises a route, yet the visible gaps call its accessibility into question. This tension between structural order and material dissolution sustains the image. The bodies seem less enduring than the damaged pillars, while the water appears almost planar. Rust Bridge thus opens a question about duration: how can presence be recognised when solid forms and fleeting traces share the same pictorial space?

Personal consultation

The work, the space, the presentation.

What interests you about this work? I take time for your questions, its origins and its place in a collection. Together, we explore differences between works and their relationship with space, light and architecture.

Size, selected materials and bespoke framing are carefully coordinated. The precise presentation develops through our conversation.

A photograph of the intended space can help us consider scale and placement.
