Water
Oasis of silence 4, Schottland
2018
A closer look at the work
Mossy trunks lean at different angles above woodland water. A large branch crosses diagonally, with physical and reflected lines intersecting below. Water glows blue in places and remains almost black elsewhere. Fine dry grass marks the lower edge, separating nearby ground from uncertain depth.
Oasis of Silence 4 establishes no single centre. Following one branch soon leads to another that changes direction. Reflection multiplies this structure without giving every line equal spatial status. The photograph invites slow distinction: wood has volume and surface, while its watery image possesses only a temporary presence dependent on viewpoint.
