Authentic Nature
Shiva Moon II, Neuseeland
2011
A closer look at the work
An irregularly branching tree stands beside water. Its dark crown opens around a bright point in blue sky. Additional branches enter from the right; the left offers a clearer view of water and distant land. Foreground grass is darker than the veiled distance.
The tree becomes a permeable boundary between sky and nearby ground. Gaps matter as much as branches because light appears through them. The title offers an association while the composition remains grounded in openings, shoreline and one organising brightness.
