Water
Star Walk 2
2002
A closer look at the work
A glowing line runs from the lower edge through dark terrain to a low horizon. Fine, diagonal streaks cross the blue sky above. The ground-level trace looks close and irregular; the lines overhead appear distant and even. Between them, the nearly black landscape joins two very different forms of movement.
The eye can follow the luminous route but finds no visible person as its source. Presence takes the form of a trace left behind. The vertical frame connects a short passage across the ground with an expansive sky, gathering both into one image of time. A distance that might be walked meets another that escapes the measure of a step.
