Virupaksha-tempel bei nacht; hampi, Karnataka, IndienA closer look at the work
A tall temple tower rises in golden brown against an almost black sky. Its stacked levels narrow towards a bright point near the summit. Leaves and branches enter the foreground. Smaller lights at ground level echo the light above, connecting the vertical structure with its surroundings.
Night reorganises the building through a handful of bright areas. Ornament becomes a rhythm of stacked lines. The photograph can be read as a study of how architecture changes appearance when darkness conceals some of its parts and brings particular contours forward.
