A closer look at the work
A slender tower rises above a largely low skyline. Indistinct human forms pass along a diagonal edge in the exceptionally narrow foreground. Bright sky gives the tower particular clarity. Between moving proximity and the sharp distant point lies a compressed band of roofs, trees and elusive details.
A lasting landmark meets an occupation that cannot be fixed. People remain temporal traces rather than portraits. The tower draws the eye into the distance; blurred forms return it to the viewpoint. Public space appears through simultaneous durations: a visible sign, an existing city and people sharing the frame only temporarily.
