A closer look at the work
Sunlight passes through the dark crown of a bent waterside tree. A large circular flare overlaps branches and sky, while a golden reflection extends across the water below. Side branches and dark ground frame the strong contrast of turquoise and orange.
The circle belongs to the scene's photographic appearance and changes its spatial reading. It overlays tree and sea without hiding them. Light both reveals the place and loosens clear boundaries between its objects, making the conditions of seeing part of the image.
