The Infrared Journey — Somewhere in Between
Transit Witness
A closer look at the work
The pigeon stands close to the camera and looks almost directly into it. Its grey patterned feathers are sharply visible, while the surroundings dissolve into blue and pink areas. Small feet rest on a coloured edge. Body and head form a compact vertical figure against the soft background shapes.
The existing work text describes an encounter while waiting for a connecting flight. This brief proximity becomes a portrait of unusual closeness. The pigeon receives attention that in a transit space often belongs to signs, times and routes. Its direct gaze interrupts the imagined journey and makes a present counterpart the centre of a temporary stay.
